Angry 2.3l starter issues

I have a 2008 2.3l, and one of the bolts on the starter was sheared off so I was using tape and gum (yes stupid I know but it's what I had at the time and it got me home) to keep a wire on the starter. Well, I got a new starter and I went to replace the old one and when I got under the truck I noticed I only had 1 bolt in the starter to the block where there should be three, and now I can't get the old starter off. W/o by budge or anything. I need some help

Remove the bolt and hit the starter with a dead blow mallet a couple of times.

I've tried that and it still won't come off. Could the bendix be on the wrong side of the flywheel? Someone told me that before but idk what that means. Supposedly I would have to take the transmission off to get the starter off, but if it was on the wrong side of the flywheel would my truck still start?

It should not be startable with the Bendix on the wrong side as the gear teeth could never mesh, so the torque of the starter would just grind metal to metal on the edge/whatever of the flywheel.
Have you tried a prybar? I think you may have some remnants of the bolts still in place that cause the starter to have to come out very 'squarely' or it will bind.
Pictures?

I think I would try a prybar between the block and the starter motor. It appears you have a lot of corrosion, and that could be holding things together. You will have a fun time trying to get the sheared bolt removed.
Given the bell housing is aluminum, you may be able to weld something to the stub of the bolt and have a perch to torque on. Heat will likely help break it loose.
From what I can see, all bolts are out(3, I see), and the starter should fall off. It might just take a good 'jar' with a hunk of 2X4 to break it loose, but be ready with something to catch it so it doesn't smash human parts.

I actually got it off a few days ago WITH a prybar and the tire tool that comes with the truck. I did exactly as you said, between the starter and the block. Sorry, I haven't been on in a while for an update. The sheared bolt wasnt actually a bolt that went into the block, it was on the starter itself. I'll post an update soon of what was actually broken. Thanks for everyone's input and help. Keep Rangering on!
