Default Radiator fill on 2.3L ?

Hi everyone,

I know this will sound stupid, but I have to ask....When changing coolant, how do you refill the radiator on the 2.3L model?

My radiator has no filler cap, just an expansion reservoir. TIA

Looking under the hood, that seems like the obvious route. And yet, I'm having a hard time believing that enough coolant can get from the little tank...fill the rad...thru the pump...into the jackets before I blow a head gasket (or worse).

Have you done this maneuver before? Thx.

Thank God, eh?

Interestingly (or not), my factory shop manual makes no mention of this stuff, at least I can't find it if it does.

OR....

Are you saying the expansion tank will "gravity-feed" the rad, without the engine running?

(runs out to garage to look under hood)

yes, the expansion tank will gravity fill the radiator, once its full start the engine to bleed any air out and then top off.

The coolant has a life range of nearly 3-4 years. You should check for the coolant if it's working properly of not and then only you must change the coolant. And do not remove the filler cap as it reduces the effectiveness of the coolant.
