I doubt it has much effect. My engineer dad told me about studies they had done on lube oil in B29 engines. The flow was not affected much until the line was close to being crimped closed. The fluid is under very little pressure, and if you disconnected the return line and caught the flow in a bucket, you'd find you had more than enough to keep the transmission cool.
I have done the same thing when the fittings on the kitchen sink slipped out of a wrench, and I twisted the supply line. From the flow, you could not tell that anything had happened, and it worked fine.
