Re: Trip meter quit working.
You will have to pull the cluster and disassemble it to find out what's going on. I bet the gear connecting the odometer to the trip meter is popped out of position, or the axle that the gears ride on has moved. They will sometimes get meshed poorly, and push out of position. You will likely have to pull the needle and the front 'fascia'(?) or cover to gain access to the mechanism. I know I swapped in an new cluster that had an odometer in mine, and reset the odometer reading to the proper miles, so working on the mechanism can be done.
