and also never go smaller on a radiator, thought I had the open loop issue taken care of till we had a below zero day and it was back. replaced radiator with 1980's model as I blew my original when I was changing a tire and it was running 2 years ago, it was all that was available at the junk yard and what I could afford. new oem radiator was the final cure. For all the parts you are buying you might as well get a an obd2 bluetooth adapter ($20) and download forscan (free).

Then look at your fuel trims when it's going to S#$%.

I would setup a display of:

Number of misfires
Misfire Currently Detected
Fuel system status (open/closed loop)
STFT Bank 1
LTFT Bank 1
O2 sensor voltage bank 1 sensor 1
You seem to have a good grasp on this product and im a newby when it comes to working on these motors. I jave a 2000 2.5L and a 93 2.3L is this scanner a good investment for quick troubleshooting and would the same one work for both of my trucks? Also thanks for the info provided already about it.

Won’t work on your 93 as it is OBD1 but it will work on your 2000 OBD2 truck. The adapter i use is BAFX products Bluetooth adapter (like $22 from Amazon).
