Default Does the water pump inlet tube need an O-ring?

I replaced the water pump on my 1998 Ford Ranger 2.5L but it has started leaking where the inlet tube connects to water pump, I know how to install it but I am unsure if it needs a O-ring or not? Any responses are appreciated.

From what i looked at, if that has a hardline pipe going into/out of the pump as a slip fit... yes it will. Replace the O-ring with new. and before installation, dip your finger into some oil 10w30 whatever.. rub it on the O-ring just before you're going to push it in and while putting even pressure, give it a slow twist so it seats properly. The oil will keep the Oring from binding or rolling up and most of all make the job easier by minimizing the O-ring from tearing some.

You dont want to goop it up, just enough to make it slippery. May not be a bad idea to dry off the inlet of coolant/water and dry your finger off if you will before inserting it and putting a light film on the inside of the fitting.

KEEP IN MIND.. OIL will make the O-ring swell some, so DONT put it on then get into a long Snap-chat convo with the woman.. you'll just shred it and be more frustrated.

let us know
