In final stages of no heat repair. I'm missing a vacuum ball, didn't know what that was, on order, and want to get what goes where to hook up what was missing. Have learned about the gray tube ,know it goes to hcv but don't know where it comes from. And more I'm sure. Anyone?

Live in Fl., Tampa bay area.Have a b2500 p/u with 2.5L fuel injected motor. Has new front suspension, working on the rear shocks next. Really bad at computers don't want to make people mad but please bear with me.

Don't know what's missing because it isn't there to see. Pictures would help.

There should be a vacuum routing diagram on the radiator support or the underside of the hood. If not, find a similar model and look at that diagram(take a picture?).
The 'ball' referenced is a vacuum reservoir. It is connected to a few things, tee'd into the HVAC controls, and the other side of the tee should go through a check valve to manifold vacuum. The check valve will hold vacuum for a while when you step on the gas and manifold vacuum drops, thus keeping the mode door in the selected position. Loss of vacuum will put the mode door in defrost.
