Default Transmission trouble 2003 2.3 l rwd, where to buy new one?

I'm having some trouble out of my transmission, I had to have a friend pick me up. I haven't had a chance to troubleshoot it much, but I am considering buying a new transmission. My truck has 220k miles, but nothing else is really wrong with it.

Where could I buy a new tranny? I don't really want to get one from the junkyard, but may consider it.

Any other suggestions/tips are welcome as I'm no expert by any means.

EDIT: Transmission works in 1st and 2nd. In Drive and reverse it really struggles to move, like the clutch is not engaging. 1st and 2nd work ok, but obviously can only go ~40mph in second.

Anything I can try? Is it toast?

Unless you want to try to repair the problem yourself, I'd suggest finding a local shop that works on automatics. There are good ones and there are ones not-so-good, so you have to ask around to find one that has been in business for more than 2 weeks, and has good customer satisfaction.
If you went to a Ford dealership repair shop, they, for the most part, will only install a Ford-authorized, factory rebuilt unit. Ford has multiple sources for their re-builts across the country, all working to a set standard under contract. The cost is likely more than your truck is worth with that mileage.(labor and parts)
If you choose a used one, you may find one that has just been worked on if you luck out. You should be able to find one in decent shape that has some life left in it.

I ordered a remanufactured one from moveras through advance. Gonna have a shop put it in.
