Hey everyone! New to this forum so forgive me if I don't post this correctly.

I have a 92 Ranger (in my signature) and it is completely stock. It has a major oil leak (cannot find) and it also has a blown head gasket. I have a 90 Ford ranger (same specs, exactly- 2.3l, manual, XLT) and it was wrecked a while back but it only needs a new radiator (which I can pull). I was wondering if anyone had done this swap and what all might have to be done or changed.

I have a 93 same thing (manual, XLT, 2.3) and I was told by my mechanic that 90s ranger engines are year specific, meaning that only the same engine from that year will fit.

The engine itself should be a bolt-in swap. The problems come in the ignition system area. If you can adapt the newer system to the older engine, it should work fine.
I do not know which years changed to what system.

car-part dot com says you can use a 90 91 92 93 engine ...
I searched for a 2.3l for a 1992 Ranger, and those years popped in the results.

Whats the difference? Dual plug head? Just have you head surfaced and swap it. All of your accessories will work. Assuming your head isnt cracked. The only difference on the heads is dual and single plugs and thermostat bolts. 6.5mm threads and 8mm i believe
