Default 96 Ranger Thumping sound

-96 Ranger XLT 2wd 5spd manual trans 182,xxx.
I'm getting a thumping sound in (what it sounds like) the front end usually when I first take off and it only happens going forward but it's not completely conclusive that it is in the front end.
I took it to NTB for an alignment and new tires one day and I told them to check the suspension and steering while they were in there (it's a free service they offer) and they said it was fine, and they're commission based so I'm assuming they're for sure.
There is a very slight pull to the right but I believe that's normal.
Any ideas?
