Not sure about the M5OD's but on my Automatic it has one bolt on either side that goes through the block and threads into the transmission.

So you have to remove the bolt from the front. That's what I'm thinking cause I think I see part of a bolt in there.

Damn you guys have a good eye..

So there is a pretty good picture of the whole ordeal. The oil is really heavly prevalent in the front of the transmission, where it connects to the engine, but it is also along the middle of the transmission, fairly lightly, as if it drained that way, or was pushed that way by the movement of the truck.

the snapped off part looks to have a edge where a flat head screw driver would fit to remove it

That's what I was thinking? What do you suggest, I'm going to the jy tomorrow, I'll see what the heck this bolt thing excuse is, or I'll check the other side for any correlation. I haven't seen articles online for a flathead bolt on our transmission, but then again I haven't been looking for that specifically either

Cause you have to remove the bolt from the front which threads into the bellhousing. There's one on each side.

Man, that conversation changed fast. Back to the original issue, I would thoroughly clean the whole area with Gunk and try to see things with a fresh perspective.

Good plan, is gunk available at Autozone, advance, walmart, ruralking etc? I've never seen it before

I think by "gunk" he meant the oil caked to your motor and transmission. I can see his post going either way, lol

Oops never mind. I used it to get all the dirt and ATF off my transmission when I pulled it.

Autozone definitely has it. I bought 4 cans from there
