Default power drop under load?

95 2.3 manu.......when i have the A/C on and come to a complete stop and the engine goes to idle the volt gauge drops almost all the way down then kinda flutters a lil then levels back out....also noticed when i go to start it, the volt gauge is almost all the way down.....just replaced battery, and terminals, altinator, and starter solinoid....im thinking maybe a bad ground some where but wanted some ideas or if anyone else has had this prob?,

Do you have a tach cluster?

I'm guessing, when you come to a stop with the ac on, if it's anything like mine, the rpms drop low then even back out, which could cause the alternator to be spinning too slow to charge.

And as far as when you go to start it, it should be low when you turn the key on, and drop all the way down while starting, then come up once it is running. That gauge tells you whether you are charging or discharging the system, and you aren't charging it till the truck is running.

As long as it doesn't go down and stay down while driving, I wouldn't worry too much about it, and if it does that, the battery idiot light will come on.

My old Gen 3 use to do this...Especially after I installed my stereo system hoz....Now..I didnt have a/c..but I noticed it ALWAYS did this in the winter..with the heat on...hell I could sit there and watch the headlights dim...and or...the volt gauge drop in the winter...Took it to ford..they said alternator was going bad....had them replace it...and the problem persisted.....ended up assuming it was the blower motor going out...Because when I noticed the biggest strain..was when the blower motor was kicking on for the first time..especially after the truck sitting for a day or two...dunno if this helps or not Hoz...but its a idea..run around a day or two..without the a/c on and without the a/c on when u go to start..and see if the problem goes away.....
btw..I had a 95 amp alt
With a 800cca optima battery in mine...

went tonight and had the battery and starter tested..its puttin out 14.45V and the the starter is beg-12.25 and end-10.25...talked to a big ford guy tonight and he said that sometimes the plugs and wires can cause that...also noticed that the engine doesnt idle up automatically when the A/C is turned on..that could be because of a bad DPFE sensor and or AIC sensor.......? lol....

yeah dustin its doesn't do it with the A/C off and i replaced the 530cca with a 650cca battery...but it will do it at night with the a/c off and the headlights on......but not durin the day with everything off.
