Default Engine almost stalls

I can't figure out why my engine feels as if it's going to stall whenever I stop. It never has yet. Just want to fix this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First step, clean your MAF, change the air filter. That is what caused it in my 97. Mind you I have the 4l V6, but the engine management is the same. Don't use brake clean, there is MAF cleaner at the parts store, get that and clean it good. Don't use anything that will leave stuff on the MAF such as paper towels, or damage it like a wire brush.

No that's different. MAF will be somewhere on your intake hose and the IAC is usually on your throttle body.

I would check the IAC before suspecting the MAF. The MAF responds to air flow, and sends its signal to the computer. Unless it was totally dropping the signal, at idle the air flow would be minimal. It is not changing appreciably, so should be a more 'solid' signal level. Dirty MAF generally shows up when accelerating, as the flow through the MAF is changing as the rpm's increase. Dirt can prevent the MAF from 'knowing' the air flow has changed as it will insulate the hot wire from air flow effects(cooling), so it is not really involved in idle problems significantly.
A dirty IAC will not respond to command from the computer will. You might not have a cold fast-idle, or the engine may stall with A/C engagement or steering wheel turning if power steering is installed.
A MAP can also cause poor idle, but it will 'wander' all over the rpm range as the computer diddles with the fuel:air mix in response.

I would agree to that except I had it happen first hand, and had a few others with the same issue. As you roll up to a stop it would bounce RPM all over the place. It wasn't until two years later and a cleaning that I needed to change my IAC. But also a good spot to check.
