Should be tube from near the flange on the exhaust manifold and it goes around the back of the engine to the egr valve on the intake manifold.

This tube has two small metal tubes that the hoses fit on.

You can see the tube coming out of the exhaust header here (has a nut on it).

Thanks for the info. I looked at that same tube but there was no conections for the hoses. It was just straight pipe

Yeah. I bought my truck used about a year ago and just recently purchased A obd 1 tester because the check engine light was on. I cleared up all codes exept one and i think its because those hoses are not tied in.

Is there pieces of metal tubes in the hoses?

Does the pipe look like it could have been welded shut where the tubes could go?

No. It looks factory made with no holes on the side at all. Ive googled the egr valve tube for this specific modle and the same one that is on My truck pops up. Its just straight pipe. I have a 94 ford ranger xlt with a 2.3

Could this be 49-state emissions controls compared to California controls? Look at the tag on the radiator support or underside of the hood for certification. You should find 49-state or CA certification, and that might determine the proper EGR tube. It is possible the original was replaced with a used part. The other possibility is that the engine was replaced and original parts were kept that should have been swapped. If a 49-state(actually maybe not including NY??) engine were swapped in place of a CA emissions engine, you could end up with your current situation.
I am sure you'll soon see a 'referee' ... good luck with that.
