Default water pump - pipe?

I have a '95 Mazda B2300 2.3 (ranger) that needs a new water pump. It looks fairly straight forward, except for the big rusty pipe coming out of the pump, behind the alternator that connects to the lower radiator hose. I'm hesitant to start pulling the pump out, since I don't know whats involved in getting the pipe unhooked from the pump. Is it just forced into the pump? Should the pipe come out with the pump? Is the pipe somehow attached to the block?

It sounds like you have a different engine but on my 2.5L, the pipe is a slip on (it's also plastic). If memory serves, it is bolted onto the alternator bracket.

just did the water pump on my 2.3. its cake. took me a little under an hour. theres 2 bolts that mount the "pipe" to the alternator bracket. take those out. what connects that pipe to the water pump is just a rubber o-ring. just pull the pump off of it. theres no other bolts or anything. a new o-ring comes with the new pump. be sure that when you put the new o-ring back on, you lube it a bit to make sure it doesn't tear (i just sprayed some wd40 on my finger and rubbed it on the o-ring. but yeah. you just pull the pump right off the pipe. hope this helped. pm me if you have any other questions. like i said, i JUST did it like 2 weeks ago. lol
