Re: 2.5L engine timing belt tension PULLEY
There aren't any 'special' steps, except to loosen the 'hold' bolts that keep the tensioner positioned, us a wrench to de-tension, and remove the serpentine belt. Allow the tensioner to 'expand' all the way it can, beyond what it would with the belt in place.
It is now 'detensioned', and you can remove the attaching bolts. Many will need a bath to determine part number for a full replacement, or, if yours has a center 'bolt' for an axle, you might be able to just replace the pulley and the installed bearings.
The older models, first with serpentine, had non-replaceable pulleys, on an axle shaft that was peened in place like a rivet. No way to reasonably replace the pulley. Rock Auto will sell you a pulley that will fit that, but it is un-usable.
Use the part number stamped onto the bracket to find a replacement, or check for a pulley alone if your axle is removable.
