Default 1996 2.3l manual trans what fluid?

Hello! I am new to this forum and have been scrubbing all the great info that you all have compiled here. I'm LOVIN it

Anyway I have done a quick search and could not find a for sure answer on what tranny fluid the (2.3l) 5 speed would take. Dextron vs. mercron that seems to be the debate. Anyone know for sure ?

Just picked up my first ranger and I am about to give her the mother of all tune ups. Fluids, filters, belts, ect. She's got 150 thou on her but is in great shape.

Thanks!
