Default EGR Valve

Can anyone tell me some symptoms of a bad EGR valve?

My 86' Ranger acts like it is running out of fuel when you accelerate (Only happens at normal operating temp); I have just replaced the fuel pressure regulator and that wasn't the problem. It also tries to backfire through the throttle body.

Thanks for any advice anyone can give.

Default Re: EGR Valve

EGR allows exhaust gas to be delivered into the intake to stabilize combustion temperature. So I suppose if the valve is malfunctioning then too much inert exhaust gas can be delivered to the combustion chambers.
