My fuel pump cut off swith keeps activating sporadicly, which of course causes the truck to die. Is there a way to bypass, like removing a fuse until I can get under there and tell what's causing the switch to trip?

[QUOTE]It went from almost empty to when i put gas into it , that it went to 1/2 a tank

I havent driven it since i put the gas into it , cause i cant get the truck started currently
/[QUOTE]The float in the tank (which helps determine fuel level) is probably off from all the times the tank is dropped.

Jim I just cut the switch out and soldered the two leads together. It had been improperly installed and had heated up, causing a bad connection that eventually dropped to no connection at all. I installed a replacement from NAPA but it was too sensitive to bumps so I just removed it. The circuit runs about six volts as soon as the ignition is turned on, and there was no fuse or anything inside the switch, just a mass and some spring/pressure plate contacts that came loose when jounced, so as long as you don't have a wreck and split your fuel lines, it seems ok to just bypass the switch entirely. see photos:
