Exclamation Help oil leak front of engine

I have a 97 ranger 5 speed 2.3l 2wd xl with a bigger water pump, aluminum driveshaft and an upgraded rear axle (from F150). The problem I have is there is oil leaking out of the front of the engine, where the pulleys are. If anyone can help me find out where the leak is that would be greatly appreciated.

Most likely the front crankshaft seal.

That was my thought. Can't you change that by just taking off the crank pulley?

And f150 axle? Which one? I want to put an 8.8 in mine.

I'm not sure I'm trying to find that out and I'll have to check the pan bolts and the seal in two weeks. I won't have access to a lift and its too cold to work on outside. I'll let you guys know how it goes and what the axel is

----------

I thought the guy I bought the ranger from put an f150 axel in it but he put an 8.8 LSD axel 3.73 ratio code r6

The ranger came with 7.5 & 8.8 rear axles and the explorer came with the 8.8. The the f150 has a wider axle because of the larger wheel base. The po got a rear from 4×4 ranger or explorer. If ever plan a 5.0 swap you need a rear end.

R6 means 8.8 limited slip 3.73 ratio.

How many miles? I have 215k on my 2.5 (same engine just stroked) and my crankshaft seal doesn't leak and neither does my oil pan.

BUT I thought one of them did until I found out it was the oil pump (just fixed a couple of weeks ago). Which I found out another member at therangerstation had the exact same issue. Oil pump from 1995-2000 is right behind the oil pump sprocket, NOT in the pan.

Take a look at my thread and the other post from the other member at therangerstation and see if yours looks similar:

BTW mine looked just like a crank shaft seal and the oil went from the front (kinda around the drivers side of the block a little) and along the oil pan and covered the bottom of the transmission.

Best way to tell is to remove the front timing belt cover.
