Default fuel pressure problem

i have a 91 ford ranger with a 2.3 that i have had a few fuel problems with here and there well i drove to work the other day and my truck ran fine but when i went to leave it would barely start and hardly idle and once it was running you couldnt give it any gas so i changed the feul pump and that wasnt it and i tried changing the fuel pump relay and thats not it so i tried the fuel pressure regulator and still no luck the gas barely runs out of the fuel rail does anyone have any ideas what it could be

goddam sounds like alot of parts being thrown around is your truck made out of legos did you try changing the fuel filter to see if that worked or did you just forget to mention it in your run on sentence did you try to grab codes with a scanner what did it say remember simple things first

i was too fursterated to add periods. lol no i changed the fuel filter about a month ago, so it cant be that because when i take the fuel line off the pump and cycle it the gas barely trickles out. i have almost tried everything and i dont know what else i can do

You are putting on a "how not to repair" clinic. like Mickblock said what about the fuel filter. if you have a new pump, relay, and regulator and you still are not get good pressure there is not much left ie. fuel filter? clogged lines?
*when you put the new fuel pump on was it just the pump or the whole setup? have you done a fuel presure test at all?

you need to be more specific. if the the truck has been running and you turn it off. what happens when you press in the shrader valve. if you cycle the key on and off and someone is pressing in the shrader valve nothing comes out? if you cycle the key and then get out of the truck and check the valve and you have no pressure. maybe the check valve is toast, that is why I asked if you repalaced the whole fuel pump unit

when diagnosing a fuel issue the first thing to do is change the filter the if you have the regulator on the rail you pull the vacuum line off looking for fuel. the next thing to do is a fuel pressure test, koeo, koer, and you want to see if the system will not drop more than 8 psi in 5 min after the truck is turned off.

I bought a fuel pressure tester at harbor freight for $20......the parts stores lend them out for free?

i changed just the pump on the sending unit and when i check the shrader valve after cycling the pump, it just barely bubbles out like there is maby 1 psi at the most. so i went back to the fuel pump and removed the fuel line from the sending unit and cycle the pump there still is barely any pressure coming out. so i dont know if its wiring or what it may be

check for power at the fuel pump if you have power then you have a bad pump or setup, if you put power directly to the fuel pump does it run?

Are you positive you have fuel in the tank?

is the bed off? Are you dropping the tank everytime you check it?

i REREAD THIS AND I AM NOT SURE WHAT THE REAL ISSUE IS. IF YOU TEST THE WIRE AT THE PUMP AND THERE IS NO JUICE. THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM. I F YOU BRING POWER TO THE PUMP AND IT DOES NOT WORK THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM.

is it possible you wired the pump the wrong way......so that it is going in reverse?

I have a 1993 with a 3.0 the truck was running and about 80 miles down the road it stopped like i ran out of gas..New fuel pump, new fuel pump relay, shutoff is in proper order, at first i was not getting fuel pump to come on found that i had a bad ground at the relay. I got that fixed so pump now running but still no pressure at the fuel rail. I have no pressure yes it was tested. I also noticed that when the key is turned on the fuel pump runs all the time. I thought it was suppose to run a few seconds then shut off till you cranked it over but regardless it still has no pressure. I have power to the regulator. Any ideas where to go from here. Thanks

OK mine regulator is vacuum controlled and you said yours is electric??? which I'm unfamiliar with but if you have no pressure but the pump is running;
COULD BE YOUR REG/bypass IS BAD AND JUST PASSING THE GAS BY BACK INTO THE FUEL TANK
Another though, has the fuel pump ever been replaced??
if so maybe the motor/plastic canister disconnected from the sending unit and is hanging in the tank by the wires????
I'm thinking of this cause when I replaced my fuel pump The tits on the plastic canister broke so I had to pop rivet it back together
I can't believe that your fuel line is leaking outside cause you would see/smell the gas and I'm sure you checked that you have gas in the tank
Another thought your pick up screen in the tank on the canister or in it could be plugged
This is all I can think of for now
