Since I got a new pump I figured why not tear down the old one that is "not serviceable" according to Ford. Well turns out it is. There is only about 5 "hard" parts to this pump (by hard I mean metal). Front assembly (part you see on the outside of the block), rear assembly (cylinder part that goes into the block), shaft, 2 pump gears (one external teeth one internal).
As far as seals go:
Pump to Block Gasket: F57Z-6659-A (according to another ranger owner), my Melling has a F57E-6659-B6C but I can't find that on google.
Outer o-ring:87072-s100
Inner o-ring:87071-s100
Front Shaft Seal (Ford doesn't say this is replaceable but it is): E6ZE-6700-A2A (same as the camshaft seal), this part is also made by National, Timken, Gates, etc. so don't have to buy from Ford.
Inner "O-ring": Don't know part number but if you don't feel like dropping alot of money on a new pump you can probably RTV one. See this seal below. BTW this was the one that cause my leak.
Down to the teardown:
First to go was the shaft seal. Remove this just like pinion seal on your rear end. Hammer a screwdriver on the side and twist and work your away around. Then just hammer the new one in. Easy.
Then on to splitting the assembly. There are two pressed in "dowel" pins that need to be knocked out from the front. After these two are out the two parts should split easy. BTW THE HOLES ON THE SIDE ARE NOT WEEP HOLES AS OTHERS HAVE SUGGESTED. They are there for prying. You will see what I mean from the pics.
Now that its apart you can see the inner o-ring I was talking about. I'm seeing if Melling will get me a part number, doubt they will. Again I'm sure you can RTV it up if money is an issue. This seal is the whole reason for my leak.
Here you can see the area that was leaking and the area where the o-ring lost touch with the housing to let the oil out.
The only seal that appeared to be leaking was the internal one. So yeah I paid $125 bucks for a new one just for a seal. BTW Melling makes the Sealed Power one I bought. All the seals that are on the new pump are Ford part numbers, the rear assembly is a reman-ed Ford assembly but the front looks like a re-cast with a Melling "M212" stamp on it.
Save your money and by the Sealed Power one from Amazon for $125
