Default engine rebulid question

it doesnt relate to rangers. but over the summer im going to restore my classic 1955 willys CJ-5 and was wondering if i replace the main bearings do i have to get the crankshaft reground. p.s stand by for pics

take it to the machine shop and they will use a micrometer to check it and see if it needs to be ground down, but they will need to at least polish it. so dont buy the bearings until after the crank has been to the machine shop and they will tell you if or how much they had to grind it. but if it the engine has never been rebuilt it will probably need it

yeah it could need some grinding on it, if it does you will need the oversize bearings, im sure you already know that, but if your lucky you could just polish it with some emery cloth.

the motors 55 years old its been nenected its whole life no air filter staved of oil..o yeah the oil wasnt changed for 5 years ,burnt valves bad rings.. but it fires right up every time i turn the key and it souds ok

The block might need some attention too since it was neglected. The cylinders might need more than just a honing before the new pistons go in... :-/

i guess im gonna have to make a desion when it comes... it still needs a compete brake system, steering every thing and a minor trany rebulid. o yeah the body has no floor and is useless
