Default Duratec Differences Over the Years
I'm in the market for a a 2.3L Duratec Ranger and I'm curious about any differences from 2001-2011 engines. I was under the assumption that it was the basically the same 2.3L for all those years, but now I've read a few things about power increases, wiring differences, MPG difference, etc.

Can anyone straighten me out on the topic?

Nah, all years were the same. 2001 was a transition year, some will have the 2.5 Lima, some will have the 2.3 Duratec.

Most of these 2.3s are gonna be old fleet trucks, including mine. When I first got it you could see the old companys decals on the door. It was really clean and I havent had a single issue

Personally, I'd go for the 2.5 Lima. Yeah, the 8 plugs are a pain, but a thermostat for a Lima is $10 MAX, one for a Duratec is about $150 because it's integrated into the water outlet.
