Default Clutch/Incredibly difficult shift

Hello all. I drive a 2002 2.3l 5 speed manual. Here in these last couple months, shifting has become an issue. When the truck is in motion, it shifts like a breeze. When the vehicle is stopped, it is very difficult (sometimes impossible. The truck must be powered off before shifting can happen, and then power on.)
It can never be in neutral at idle, or getting back into gear can be a problem.
Sometimes when at a stop light, (clutch has to be in and must be in desired gear) the truck will begin creeping forward, as though the clutch weren't engaged.
Now I have inspected the transmission, but I really know nothing about the wires around it. One of the wires has a slight leak of a green fluid, which I assume is coolant. I dont know know that contributes to the problem.

If it helps at all, a buddy to me to hold the gearshift between neutral and first when idling. All was well, clutch fully in, but then the gear popped out and started grinding. I asked a tranny shop, said it was fine. I just am not sure what is going on with it. I'd assume clutch is bad, or pressure line, but Id like a second opinion.
Also, to my knowledge, the poor b astard has never had the fluid changed.

Almost sounds to me like a leaky slave or master cylinder. Clutch not fully engaging while stopped would definitely make it difficult to get into gear, as well as letting it creep forward if its already in gear because its letting the pressure off, so a bad slave or master would make sense to me. Have you checked the fluid? The reservoir would be under the hood on the drivers side firewall. Right next to the brake booster. See if the fluid is low, and top off if necessary. That would be the first place I check. If the fluid isn't low, go out in your driveway and start it up out of gear. Then pump the clutch 5 or 6 times and immediately try to put it in gear. If pumping it builds up enough pressure to make it easier to put into gear, I'd bet on a leaky slave or master.

Sounds like a bad slave. My truck is beginning to have that issue. Hard to put into first or reverse from a stop I always assumed it was just the shift forks worn, but it's not the case. It goes, but it gives a little trouble getting into it. I noticed yesterday with the truck in gear and clutch held down it began to inch forward at a red light. BAD SLAVE. Just as well. the clutch could use replacing at 300,000 anyway.

It could be the slave or master cyl, as well as the pilot bearing trying to lock up.
