Did you buy the truck new? If not the previous owner may not have changed the oil often and there is a buildup of sludge and varnish. The new oil is dissolving that buildup which is why it turns dark so fast. After 2 months oil in a clean engine may get a little darker, like honey color, but it won't get very dark brown like you say.

Wouldn't this depend on how much you drive it??

To some extent, yes. But if you think about it, if you take a brand new car and look at the oil after 5,000 miles, it will still look very clean because there is no exisiting sludge inside the engine to get into the oil. If an engine has a lot of existing sludge, the oil will get dark very soon after a change.

I bought my car new and granted I didn't personally change the oil until I had had it about a year but the oil was always as dirty as the oil in my '99 with 100,000+ miles

my mom put 20,000 miles on her Fusion before an oil change, the oil was still good too.

Truckers go about 200,000 miles per oil change.

you can make oil last long with a good brand of oil and filter(s) and not racing around all the time.

Dude, different engines like different things. NGKs are what came stock in the D-tech, and Bosch has gone way down hill. I'm just tryin to help you get the most out of what you drive. A German designed, Japanese engineered, American built DOHC 4 cylinder.

Some engines are dirtier than others. The oil in my CR-V comes out much cleaner but the Celica I had blackened the oil quickly. Just a nature of the engine design. The important thing is to follow the recommended oil change interval. As long as you do that you're going to be fine.
