Default Need help, advice...

I just now got on this...So I have no clue if im on the right thing lol. But I Have a 1994 Ford Ranger 2.3 5 speed the only mods I have is a couple of stickers & a cb radio lol. But my quiestion is Iv had this truck for about 4 months & the temp gauge never worked. About a month ago the gauge started to read a little bit it never got hot or even up to normal but I was scared that it was getting so hot that it was making it read little. I flushed the truck, heater core & all, put in a new thermostat & it still reads a little, I never let it get hot & its only been to normal just a couple of times. IS there anyone on here that has had the same problem or how I can tell if my truck is overheating just by driving it jumping out & popping the hood. I need any help I can get..
