Even with a stick, I'd say I'm some where in the 8 second range. Face it, not exactly a power house. Hell, there are people complaining about the power in the 2010 CR-Vs and their engine is putting out 180 hp, could you imagine if they were driving one with 97 hp like the old, old Rangers or 119 hp like I have now? LOL

People expect their trucks and SUV to perform like they are frigging sedan or sports car. Those same people need to get a clue or make another vehicle selection...

agreed, if youre worried about 0-60 time dont buy a ranger, or a truck at all for that matter.

My old car was a first gen Mazda RX-7 with turbo, :-( I regret getting rid ofit. That girl had a few ponysunder its hood. Never got a speeding ticket in it, never drove the speed limit. Then I get my ranger, got a speeding ticket two days after I got itgoing 43 in a 35... WTF??? anyway I agree..The ranger is not what you want if your concerned about your 0-60 time.

yeah ive ran mine at a local 1/8 mile track a few times and it ran a 12.53 at 58 mph, so i guess the 0-60 time would be about 12.75, so yeah if you want a good 0-60 time a 4 cylinder ranger aint for you, unless you go ahead and drop a V8 in it

My first post is gonna gain me alot of friends I can feel it. Saying if you want speed a ranger isnt for you is funny. I mean sure if we are talking stock I agree but seriously what car guy leaves their vehicle stock? I could make the same arguement if offroading is what youre after why buy a ranger because we all know the ranger isnt close to the best choice for climbing mudding or really anything. If offroading is your thing youre gonna mod it it will get better but still wont be the best but its the truck you like so thats what you did. I personally think if hes really a speed guy after awhile he will see that the truck is pretty damn slow and he will eventually swap a motor build and boost that one or move on. To say trucks arent made for speed just cracks me up.

you can make a geo metro fast too if you drop a 502 in it, using that argument doesnt work really. rangers arent built for the drag track period. they can be pretty quik stock but to say they are fast is a stretch.

Or you can make a geo metro fast by slapping a 4xe1w motor in it and turning the boost up to 14 psi. If my memory serves thats 98 cin.

But lets get back on track. Really you just vallidated my point. You can make anything do anything. You can make the ranger better at offroading even though there are far better choices. Its not always about having the best or doing the easiest. Some people like 2 different things that dont really go together so they make them work together.

What I find even funnier is when did I say the ranger is fast stock? I didnt, I actually said it was slow. It is period. I am responding to the people who say if you want something fast a truck isnt for you. Thats just funny considering fast trucks are a dime a dozen.

By the way while we are talking about fast I will give my definition of fast. I think any daily driven street car that runs 11's is fast. I think any race cars runinng 9's is fast. I think a bone stock car running high 12's is fast. And I think certain cars are fast for what they an example would be a dodge minivan running low 13's would be fast in my book.

i dont disagree with you about the fact that you can make anything fast but since no one in this thread is talking about a heavily modified high HP engine swaps or race suspensions your argument still doesnt apply here. were talking stock trucks here. my point is, dont buy a stock truck, plan on keeping it stock and than bitch about it because it wont beat your neighbors mustang or hit 60 MPH in less than 8 seconds or whatever because you bought a truck. its built for hauling/ work/ offroading/ utility ect, not going down the track. can it be built to do that? sure can but that goes for anything really. if you buy a truck with the intention of racing it, thats different story all together but how many people actually do that? my guess would be far less than the ones that buy a truck to use them for there intended purpose.

I think we agree on pretty much all points I just got the impression that it was if youre looking for speed a ranger isnt for you which I took as a ranger modded or stock. If we are talking stock and only stock than I agree.
