Question Putting engine on stand

Hopefully you guys will be able to help I recently got an engine stand from my uncle but I am wondering what size bolts should be used to mate my 88 merkur 2.3 to it I assume it should be the same size as the 2.3 in the rangers since everything is the same ha just wondering what to look for! I wanna get it on the stand tonight!!

Do you have bellhousing bolts for the engine? if so, use them for size, then add enough length to work. And if that engine is like the ranger 2.3, some of the bolts thread into the engine, others thread into the bell, so you would need bolts, as well as nuts.

Yeah, my 2.3 when it was on the stand, the two allignment pegs on the block fit into the bolt housings on the engine stand, you run a bolt through it, and a nut on the other side, and don't forget to use washers cause you deffinatly don't want the bolts to pull through it and fall.

I do have the bell housing but that's in the truck and I can't really get at it so I was hoping someone would know the size so I could just go out and get them after work

Yeah,we just use a little smaller bolt and put it thur the hole and put a nut and washer on it.Same motor, use your ranger roller cam in your turbo motor

take one in and compare the thread. need to think ahead of time about the length, both metric and US if you don't know what thread, you'll probably need a longer bolt than a bell bolt. fwiw use washers, and mind if the crank is going to hit the stand anywhere when bolted up. if metric you can save money using US washers
