Default Strange whirring noise from front end

For a few weeks there's been a whirring sound coming from the front end that starts as soon as I turn the truck on. It's somewhat wheezy like there would be something leaking, but in occasion it will stop out of nowhere. When I accelerate, the pitch of the whir goes up and even gets louder. I was told the radiator had a crack but I am hoping to get a more direct diagnosis.

Could be something like an idler pulley going out. Start your truck up and pop the hood to find where it is coming from. You can use a long screw driver and place it on stuff and put the handle next to your ear to amplify the sound.

How cold is it where you live? It could just be normal truck warm up noise if it's cold.

Great idea. I'll try that when there's daylight.

It's cold every so often here in N Texas, but it doesn't always happen when it's cold.

Check the fan clutch, if its trying to lock up, it will make a sound similar to that.
