Runs very rich
I have a 1991 2.3L that was given to me that has sat for about 2 years. The owner never did figure out what was wrong with it. It will start cold, but if you turn it off, it will not start again for the entire day. The plugs are fuel fouled. I plugged in a scanner, no codes, ECt is normal, o2 is switching. I suspected the injectors were leaking, pulled them, they were not. I replaced the fuel press. reg with no change. the owner had replace the ecm, o2, coil, and more. I cleaned the MAF, no change. I am thinking I have a stupid MAF. Any suggestions would be welcome! I am new to Ford EECIV systems.

Is it really just one time a day or does the engine just start when the engine ist totally cold out?
Have u tried to restart the engine with start pilot spray?

What is the fuel pressure? Someone should have changed the MAF before the other stuff. Try a new MAF if FP is ok.

Re: Runs very rich
Fuel pressure is 45 psi, the engine cranks, but will not start, I have spark, if you add ether, it will not start. If I unplug the fuel pump fuse, do a WOT crank, it sometimes will try to start, if it does then I reconnect the fuse and its ok. I even cracked exhaust open to see if it was restricted, no change. I am going to get a maf today. I hate to just put on parts, but that is about where I am with this.

Re: Runs very rich
yes, I am certain it has spark. It will start if it sits overnight, just not after it has been running. Again, If I crank it WOT it will TRY to start, like it is flooded, sometimes it will start if I unplug the fuel pum fuse, crank it wot, replug the fuse, then sometimes it starts, usually it must sit overnight or all day. I will try the maf today and let you guys know what happens. Thanks for all the advice.
