Does not start anymore
Hi, i was wondering if anybody had an idea what to try to make my truck start.
I changed/Clean the Cooling System, i was planing on changin all of it but sadly i need the truck in the next few day so put it all back together last sunday, since then i'm trying to start it, plug the block heater on it, made sure it was working, put the booster cable on it, it crank but do not start, it did back fire a few time but nothing more.
So tomorow it is going at the shop, since it is about -35c here and i can't take it anymore to be outside
so anyone know what i should look for? the faster they fix it the cheaper it is for me!
It did run and start fine in cold weather every morning until i paked it 3 weeks ago.
Thanks

If you think that is the case why did you not check it? It takes 3 seconds?

Re: Do not start anymore
check the filter is my first suggestion. 8 Years and a lot of water in it...
perhaps you have a filter with a drain? (not sure if ranger have these normally).
Get the car in the Garage, wait a couple of hours. Try to start. If it is a Temperature Problem, the car will start then.

Why did the guy not check the fuel line for freezing already? It takes longer to create the post then to check the valve!..yikes!

Re: Does not start anymore
So the Towing pick it up last night after 6 hours of waiting, the shop called today and said it is not even worth trying to start it today so they put it in the shop for the night with a charger on the battery, so it should start tomorow without any issue if nothing is broken.
keep you updated tomorow.

Re: Does not start anymore
I'd have said Keep It Simple Silly and vote battery esp. since it is winter and all of North America is under this Polar Vortex, or whatever. My 08' Ranger wouldn't start Friday, and I went to jump it over the weekend, and it started on its own. I had the battery tested, and it failed.

Re: Does not start anymore
it cranked and pretty well, i also try to boost it jus tin case and nothing, most likely a frozen gaz line but at -30/-40 almost everyday you dont stay outside too long if you dont have too and since i dont have a garage can't really warm it up myself.
they should call me this morning to let me know if it start or not.
Battery is fine crank no probleme at -40, even more weird it seem to crank faster then my new civic.

Re: Does not start anymore
So the shop called, with not exactly the best news....
1st he changed all of my plug (i mean all 8 of them) because i had 3 diferent kind and some of them where in bad shape (last owner told me changed them all and gave me a receipt for some)
Now that i have fire he looked at my fuel which is Good.
he said after that he look at my belt from the inspection hole and the belt is not moving which mean it broke.
so they are oppening the cover and they will change it and hopefully thats enough to get it started.
