Check engine light when warming up in mornings?
Lately, while its been cold here in Tennessee, I will occasionally go out to start my truck in the morning and let it run for about 10 to 15 minutes before I leave for work. But lately, when I come out to leave, the check engine light will be on. It will go off if I turn the truck off and restart it. But sometimes it will come back on during the ride to work. I took it to get the codes checked but there were no codes stored. I'm wondering if this may be the ERG sensor but I'm just guessing. Anyone have a guess on what it could be?

Is the CEL flashing?
Best thing to do is get your own reader and keep checking until you have a code. Then post the actual code #. Anything else is a guess.

If his ranger is the same as his avatar he can't use a code reader

I just looked at his sig. He has a 1992. He could get the obd-1 reader. I would start there.
OP. Is your CEL flashing?

Where did you take a 1992 to check for codes?

The CEL is not flashing just constant. I took it to the auto shop that is connected with my work. I work at a co op, and it has a car care center. The light was on when I drove up to get it checked, but the mechanic turned the truck off , and the light went off and he found no codes. He said if it had a code it should save it. But yes, you can check codes on a 92. The port is under the hood instead of under the dash

I have not tried cleaning the mass airflow sensor but I will have to look around on youtube or something to figure out how to do so
