You're lucky your local Advance is honoring the warranty, especially after two pumps. The warranty technically isn't supposed to be valid unless you replace the strainer as well.

Are you replacing the strainer too when you're swapping pumps? Have you pulled the soft lines and made sure they weren't deteriorating? Are the hard lines rusting?

Advance has their share of shitty parts, but it's very uncommon for three to take a shit like this.

Something has to be killing them. Either you have an electrical problem killing them, or some rust or shit is making them work too hard and frying them that way.

Can you actually hear the pump prime when you turn the key to on?

I can't hear it prime now and the tank looked clean when I changed it last time I can't believe I kicked it and it started last time it wouldn't even do that it just cranked the orignal let me beat it and drive around.

Can't verify this but I was always told to try to keep a gas tank at least ½ full as it prolongs the fuel pump by the gas keeping it cool.I have never had to replace a fuel pump since they came out in the gas tank. (knock on wood) Best of luck finding your issue.

Angry Re: 3rd fuel pump

Well, here we go I finally took the bed off and got a new fuel pump in the truck today. I went with the full assembly a carter from napa. We put it in and nothing. I said just like on here "thanks fellas" inertia switch well the plug was burnt it was black and cracked all over I'm talking about the plug on the harness to the switch? Now after that we tested the wires not getting power to the plug now we looked at all the fuses there all good. I kno I need a new switch but how would I kno about if the relay is bad or not it's getting power to it this is making me think a wire is broke or??? Please tell me someone on here has had the same problem with there truck it has a little less then 160,000 miles I take good care of it too??????

to test if the relay is bad you can use a jumper wire to bypass the relay.

It's not uncommon for an inertia switch to be problematic. It seems more common on 04+ though. You don't give us a year to work with, only mileage.

I suggest locating a new pigtail and soldering it on...assuming the inertia switch is still good.

Testing the relay is as easy and swapping it out with another from another circuit....like foglights or blower motor or a/c clutch relay or wiper relay. A relay from a circuit that isn't essential for a runner. Most of those relays are all exactly the same.

It didn't make much sense going through so many pumps. Something else what a-miss. And I believe you've stumbled upon it.

My truck is an 03 2.3l now we put the other tow relay in its spot the switch was bad I guess we took it apart and it was melted inside and we still are not getting power to the switch and the pump??

Sorry sounds confusing but I mean I think the inertia switch is bad "melted inside" and the other relay did nothing still no power to the inertia switch
