Exclamation 1989 2.3L Starting but no Fire!

I have a 1989 2.3L 4cyl 5spd manual. While driving it home today it died in the parking lot of my apartments. I tried to start it and it started smelling like it was flooded. It also wouldn't bump start. I tried pulling it and pushing it and it just wouldnt turn over. I can hear my fuel pump when i turn the key on. Brand new starter and solenoid so it ain't either of those two things. I'm gonna pull the distributor cap off tomorrow and look at the contact points and also pull the plugs and check the gaps and what not. I'm also going to check for fire in my wires. Would love any input. My dads an aircraft mechanic but we're stuck on this one! Thanks for the help!

I'm guessing it's it would be your distributor the cap might have got some stuff In it. All the plugs wouldn't go out at one time. If 1 plug was bad it would still run but wouldn't fire from the 1 cylinder. Pull a plug, leave it hooked to the wire and let it sit out, not against any metal! Have someone crank the truck. If you got no spark try the next and if none look at the main source for spark.

Tried all the above. Ended up taking it to a shop and found out it was the ICM. So i just let them put it in. Cost me 4 bills but i didn't have the time to do it myself. Thanks for the input though. (btw no distributor on this truck)
