Default 93 ranger 2.3l loss of power

I need help! My 93 ranger loses power going up hills and at times from a dead stop. it almost dies on me from a stopped position and can only hit 40mph going up any hill. I have been told its the mass air flow sensor and how to clean that, did that and still happens. I cut the catalytic converter off thinking that was it and it wasnt. Even at idle if i were to step on the gas heavy it spits and sputters. I have asked a ton of mechanis and just get possibilties of what it may be. Anyone have any input????

How many miles on your truck? It might be time to replace the catalytic converters, and if they are plugged then you definately need to do that. You also may want to check that your MAF is working correctly, but that would probably throw a CEL too.

I have around 114k on it now, i took the cat off completely and it still bogs when you punch the gas. No code lights are coming on and even with the cat off i rev the engine and it has a smal back fire to it if i rev real hard

I don't think it's plugs and wires, he's tried that, possibly the TPS or it could be a bad coil pack. I think your engine is new enough for a coil pack

It sounds like its starving for gas or air and i'm leaning to the gas end of it. I'm going to try replacing the fuel filter and i have a feeling its the fuel pump but i'm praying for the fuel filter! Any advice on after market catalytic converters being that i hacked mine right off?!

That could be the entire problem, your engine needs the O2 sensor to be able to put in the right amount of fuel, which means you also need the cat, or you can, in my opinion this is dumb, get a resistor that fools the engine into thinking the o2 sensor is there, summit or Jegs sells it

Sounds good man, try the TPS as well. Maybe not replacing it but get a digital volt ohm meter and test the voltage on it. The other suggestion I have is check the cam position sensor

The TPS is the throttle position sensor, it sounds like you are getting to much fuel. Your catalytic converter should not be cherry red, and don't drive it if this happens, you'll kill the cat and have to buy a new one. The cam sensor is to measure where you camshaft is in the rotation of the engine.
