Default Red oily fluid in radiator.

So I just got my 93 ranger with a 4.0 and an automatic transmission. The radiator was leaking so I bought a brand new one and dropped it in and after a little drive, when I got home i noticed it was leaking tranny fluid from the connections. I tightened them up and topped off the radiator and the water was pink milky with pink dots on top and very oily to touch. Very similiar to tranmsission fluid. is this some kind of conditioner they put in new radiators or did I buy a bad radiator? Whats the deal here. Thanks

Could be possible that the transcooler is bad, or that you cracked it by overtightening.

Either way, if trans fluid is in your coolant, you most likely will have coolant in your trans. And thats a bad thing!

Sounds like the tranny cooler is faulty, letting tranny fluid mix with the coolant. Don't drive it as this is bad for your transmission.

Coolant in transmission. Does this mean I hurt my transmission? What do you guys recommend I do about this? For now I disconnected the tranny cooler lines to avoid water bleeding into them. Thanks again

Depends on how much time it has ran like that. Drain the fluid.

I neglected to mention something. I got hone from the short 3/4 mile drive and like I said. The fluid was leaking out of both connections. I tightened them and one didn't feel like it was getting tighter. Then I heard a crack. I stooped there and haven't started it since then.(kind of an important detail. I know)

I would flush the trans fluid and put in a new filter. Coolant will tear a trans up.
