Default Power mods!

Hey guys did a little research and I know that most of my answers will be "google it" or "there's not much you can do". With that said, just ignore all of this if that's what you're going to say. Right now I have a K&N cold air intake (which apparently doesn't do shit because ford rangers come with the best intake ever made right?) and dual exhaust with the stock cat on my 4.0 SOHC auto transmission. What mods can I do or have done that will increase low end torque and horse power. I don't care about price up to $1,000 (per mod including shop labor charges, just guesstimate), don't care for MPGs. This isn't my daily driver, and don't care about the warranty for its already voided. Any intellectual input would be greatly appreciated. And I'm not doing a V8 swap either so keep that shit out. I plan on lifting it and putting bigger tires on it, also want to regear if anyone has any input on that.

About your only other option is to throw a supercharger on it.

You're not even going to begin to install a supercharger for under that $1,000 limit....

Tell me more. If a super charger is all I do, then I need not worry about other mods.

Please just slow down a little & search around for the RP Caster kit.

You've been peppering this site lately with all these 'grand ideas' & 'master plans' - it's going to cost some serious cash to do all this safety & correctly.

Yes I have. I have the money saved only problem is getting the wife to allow me to do it. And these engine modifications will come way later, if I even deem them practical, which isn't happening as of late. Thanks.

you are right, but there arent very many options short of swapping a motor.

If you go with the supercharger idea unless u rebuild the engine, put forged pistons, ported and polished heads with upgraded valves and rocker arms, and upgraded head gasket and posibly re-grinding ur cam to be able to handle the increased boost. if u put on the supercharger without doing that then I wouldn't recomend running over 4-5 pounds of boost because you will seriously compromise the internal parts of ur engine. And id recomend useing an m90 out of an old thunderbird. ive priced a kit and supercharger for around 2,000 and ull only gain around 45hp running 4-5 pound of boost
