Default Governor?

While the truck is in park I depressed the pedal to hear the new exhaust, and it cuts out @3500 rpm, like a governor. Anyone know about this?
Name says it all. Thanks

its a rev limiter, most rangers have them, it doesnt let the engine go past 3500 rpms while not moving. theres also a speed governer set at around 95 mph, but dont ask how i found that out.

There is no way to remove it without a tuner either.

Kinda pointless to rev your engine up past 3K rpm while sitting anyways so it is there for protection

Hmm, that is a first for me. I have not seen a vehicle limited like that before.
I found it to be odd and it would be a problematic when trying to run the revs to diagnose a misfire problem. . .

Oddly I have not been able to find a limiter one of my other cars, I have been told what it will do but I had to try and see for myself unfortunately I am to chicken, as the roads are not straight enough. I have tried it up to 184mph.

Yeah my 96' is governed at 105mph. It feels like the engine kinda quits for a second. It doesnt turn off but it becomes disabled until it drops about 5mph.
