Default help w/ 05 4.0 sohc turbo conversion

i have a 2005 4.0l ranger and was wanting to put a turbo in it. was going to just go with a 7psi since still a stalk motor but i dont know how i would convert one to fit on the ranger..any ideas?

You could get a supercharger kit from www.bansheesupercharger.com or you could check out www.enginebasics.com for a tutorial on how to build custom turbo manifolds.

Just google mustang 4.0 turbo and you'll get lots of ideas. The mustang 4.0 has the exact same longblock and HP as the truck. A properly sized turbo will also give you much more low end power than a supercharger since it's not rpm dependent.
Educate yourself, design your own system and save about $3000.
Here's an idea.

remote turbo is the way to go. Remove your muffler and place the turbo in its place.

i think the limit for the 4.0 boost wise is 5-8psi

Mustang guys are running 11psi and up to 14 with methanol/water injection on stock engines. They are dyno tuned though with fuel and timing remapped.

The terlingua 4.0 v6 mustang uses a centrifugal supercharger (belt driven turbocharger) and would probably be your best bet since all you would have to do is mount it so that the belt can reach and plumb the tubing. I think it makes around 450 hp.
