Default is this the timing chain

hard to hear at the beginning. turn it up, and wait till i walk around to the front of the truck

No, it sounds like an exhaust leak between the head and exhaust manifold. Look for soot or rev it and let off quickly in the dark to find the leak (while looking at the suspected area).

This what my initial though, but on another forum someone mentioned timing chain. But I though they fixed the timing chain issues with the SOHC a few years before 06.
Truck only has 93,000 miles on it.

Would driving it like it is be bad? Don't really wanna pull the engine if I don't have to in the winter.

if you want to make sure what it is...make an appointment at the dealer and they will tell you for sure

hahaha cmon now, im super nice to my truck! actually, lately i have been. snow on the ground means no jumping or beating on it. and really, ive only jumped it 4 times that one weekend.

Get a piece of tubing, garden hose or whatever about 4 feet long. Put one end to your ear and move the other end around where the noise is coming from. When your right over it the sound through the tube will be really loud. It's the best way to pinpoint a noise that you can't find otherwise.
