What size injector is the best for a built 4.0L?
I was been told a 24lb injector is the best for a built 4.0 motor but i'm not sure. What is the best for a built semi everyday drive?

a mustang 5.0 uses a 19lb injector so why would a built 4.0 with 2 less cylinders is going to need anything bigger than a 24? unless your going to build a turbo charged or supercharged 4.0 i dont see why you would need that big of an injector. now someone else may be able to chime in but i would really be surpised if a 24 worked. so built you are saying bored stroked ported and polished. if thats it then why upgrade to a bigger injector

well i don't remember how big of an injector the ranger has stock, but most of what i've heard, for the amount of horses you'd be able to get out of a hopped up 4.0L anyways, 19lb injectors should be adequate even if you do put a supercharger on or turbo. the big limiting factor on those motors anyways is the serious lack of intaking air, that'd be my focus rather than the fuel. i.e. porting the heads and such.

I'm doing the port and headers also a high flow system later hoping to drop a supercharger on it. So i'll go with the 19's and see what happens. I should be fine if i'm bores .020 over with high compression right now?

spacers are pointless on a throttle body they work great on carbs but the more distance you put between the tb and the intake the worse it will be and alot of them "sprial" which is worse a tb motor needs smooth air not spinning air. and yea a bigger tb would help a good bit if you built the motor

x2 on the spacers, save your money on the TB spacer, they suck! just save your money and buy the bigger TB if you end up hopping up the motor otherwise its pretty pointless.

I have a 66mm tbody, your for $150.
as for the injectors, 24# is the size you should run for a well build motor, make sure your MAS is set for a 24# injector also. the older injectors were 14# the newer 4.0 OHV had 19# what year do you have. I also have a larger MAS with a set of injectors i don;t need along with a few other 4.0 parts to go fast.
How are you going to be high compression?? 98 heads on a 97 or older?

The high compression was a trick up the sleeve for my mechanic he never really stepped up and told me what he did but i trust him. I'll see what he did forsure and get back to you on that one. Also i'm interested in you T-body, MAS and injectors. What would be the price be for all? Also what other parts do you have? My ranger is a 2000 4.0L OHV.

2.9's had 14# injectors, 4.0L's have always had at least 19# injectors.
When I built my first 4.0L,(91 shortblock, 95tm heads, 422 cam etc ...) I initially used the stock injectors & stock tune without issue. I eventually installed a 155 lph fuel pump, 24 lb injectors & MAF for the larger injectors. I didn't gain any power but I did get some peace of mind.
I've since installed a Standalone speed density ECU & have realized a whopping 7hp gain over the factory EEC IV tune. Just goes to show that the factory ECU is very forgiving!
