Re: Rough Idle, hesitation on acceleration, loss of power
Its extremely crucial that you use the same PCM for your make and model. The ECMs usually have the part number on them and you must match that number otherwise it won't run right. So I wouldn't completely rule out the PCM/ECM. I changed cats and O2s, checked the MAF, TPS, IAC, vacuum leaks, changed the fuel pump, and all was good but still continued to have same issues. I was stumped so I bought a cheap OBD1 scanner for my ranger and got a 159 code which is MAF sensor out of test range. After a little more research and reading about other folks having the same issue everything pointed towards the ECM. I removed my ECM removed the two torx screws off the sides and removed the cover and found my problem. I'll post a picture later but I have an almost melted transistor but definately burnt connection. So if I would at the very least take a real close look at your ECM again before you rule it out.
