Default Built 4.0

Has anyone had any experience building up a 4.0 liter?

I'm just wondering if anyone has taken one down and rebuilt it to be a monster.....

I was thinking of buying a used motor and ripping into it to build a beast for my 2002 4wd......

Any comments or words of advice or stories?....

Where would I go for parts?

yes I have, built the motor you have then you know the history, unless that is good reason to get a used motor
heads and cam will make a huge differance, Alabama cylinder heads is the way to go thick cast for a stronger head, then upgrade the springs to hold up to the cam you put in. comp cams 410 or 422 cam.

let me know what you need.
i have a few photos on my web page

I was thinking about putting a T3 turbo on my 4.0 set at 5psi. Is there anything you would suggetst to build up? I've heard the 4.0 has a really strong bottom end. It's mostly the heads, cam, lifters.... that I should be worried about. Any input?

i've got a 4.0 ohv motor that is punched .75mm over and comps 422 cam and double valve springs and i ported and polished the heads and intake I have a bbk 66mm throttle body and k&n cai and it has alot more bottom end torque but I feel like that I did lose some acceleration speed but then again I am 4x4 on 33's so i would rather have the torque than speed

get the oil pan and bolt from a 4.0 SOHC motor, it will help hold the bottom end together
