Default 94 4.0 Ranger (Mazda B4000 LE)

I've got a 94 Mazda B4000 LE (i know it doesnt have the ford emblem but its a ford straight down to the air conditioning vents). Now I took it in to get the transmission flushed at a local shop ( 1st gear has been sticking. If i start in second it shifts no problem threw the rest of the gears) and i got a phone quote for 120$ and then when we got to the shop shortly afterwards and they told me i needed a special kit that cost another 60$. I paid for it upfront and when i picked up the truck the problem still persisted.

Now my question. Is there a way to check if the transmisson flush was actually done? The only reason i question them is because we took our F350 dually in for a tire patch and the kid they had doing the patch (first tried to lift the truck up with a lift with a 6000lbs steel bed on the truck) and then did not set the alignment pins on the rear tires. I climbed under the truck myself and the pan was not dropped (mud is still all around the bolts) and the cooler lines were not taken off (mud around them) and i havent been down any muddy roads since they did the flush.

thank you before hand,
Christopher Cummings

Did they change the filter even ? Quite often these places do a halfass flush and just unhook lines which cause issues and plug lines, filters etc.

You may want to go to a transmission specialty shop with this issue if you're not comfy working on a trans. could be valve related, or just a bad filter.
How many miles on vehicle? Ad how often is trans serviced? And note when you've done a "flush"

As by what the receipt says they did not change the filter and by the looks of it they would have to drop the pan to do the filter which was definatly not done. Around 250k miles on odometer. As far as i know the trans had never been flushed and ive had it for the last 25,000 miles.

You may really want to take it to a REPUTABLE transmission shop. Also post in the drivetrain subforum here with this q. With a tranny that old (filter age unknown) having a flush could potentially have hurt the transmission.

Could be as simple as a plugged filter Also you may be looking at a rebuild or valve body job(doing a vb job on mine)
Hopefully the drivetrain forum could help. But if you're not comfertable taking apart the transmission valve body (delicate and complex) i reccomended taking to a true trans shop
