Default Blowin pure white smoke out exhuast pipe

Hi Im Aaron. Im from georgia. I have a 94 ranger that has been a awesome truck. takes everything i throw at it.

I'm having trouble with white smoke coming out the exhuast. This is pure white smoke like the kind from a fogger or smoke machine. there is absolutely no blue tint to it, its sold white. I can crank up the truck with out the ac on and it will not smoke one bit. but as soon as i turn on the ac it smokes like the devil. Runs great no loss of power nothing just pours out white smoke. oil level is good. coolant level it good both are full and where they need to be. i had taken the heads off due to blown head gasket. took heads to local speed shop to have them checked, cleaned, and new valve seals. everything checked out great. put heads on went great for 2000 miles. i parked the truck and bought me an f150 till i got my ranger fixed. I really dont know where to start. i had show in one forum on the 6.0L powerstroke where the egr valve was the problem. could this be the problem? need some help on figuring this out. I love this truck and really dont want to get rid of it. here is a list of what has been done in order since ive had the truck. 1) gas filler neck, 2) radiator, 3) fan & fan clutch, 4) water pump (dad broke will i was at work he was trying to take fan off the old school why srew driver and cresent wrench) 5) head gasket 6) upper and lower radiator hoses, 7) new front brake lines, calipers, rotors, rear wheel cylinders and shoes. Now its smoking white smoke out the exhuast and has been sitting for 4 months but i go out crank it and drive it with out the ac. i know letting a ford sit around and not be ran is not good for it. but i want to fix the smoking first. thanks for any input.

did you check if you have oil in your water (dirty looking/filmy) or water in your oil (white in your oil)?

This makes no sense. White smoke is going to be coolant from a head gasket or intake gasket leak. But the AC being on or off has absolutely no bearing on anything with that. I can not explain that connection.

I wonder if the AC condenser is somehow mis-plumbed, crosswired or vacuumed? Sucking cold water into the exhaust, where it flashes to steam?

Just an idea, but it seems plausible...

Creative, but not really plausible. The AC system is sealed and pressurized. It wouldn't even begin to run if any component of it was open like that. Also, it runs on 134a refrigerant, not cold water. Definitely get creativity points though.

I know thats why im at such a loss. ive replaced the head gaskets. the whole top end has been rebuilt. it has the 5 quarts of oil its suppose to have. it is not lossing any coolant. radiator is slap full, and resivor is at the level it suppose to be. runs like a champ but when i turn the ac on pure white smoke pours out. ill take a video of it and upload it to let yall see. if i can get one to upload.

So you're telling me my condenser doesn't drip water onto the pavement, after running the ac? Not my observation, to be honest, but I agree that a pressurized system can't be plumbed wrong, lest the vehicle not run properly (if at all)

BUT...I'm no Ford mechanic. I'm just a (former) professional bike mechanic (got the degree an' ever'thing :P ) Bikes don't have AC systems, so it's not my area of proficiency. Oddly enough, I got really really good at induction. Carbs or injected, there's naught I can't do. But...I digress....

----------

Maybe a plugged drain hose causing excessive water to collect in the heater box?

I never disconnected anything from the ac system when replacing the head gaskets. vaccum hoses ill double check, but pretty sure they are good, but never know.

The dripping water is condensation of outside air.

Does the truck smoke when the engine is under any other kind of load?

My suggestion was that maybe stuff/crud has just built up in the drain hose.
It's only an idea, but I could be way wrong..

Good luck with the search though

Actually, no it doesn't. That is the condensate drain from the box the evaporator coil is contained in. That water is not from the AC system itself. It is condensation formed on the *exterior* of the evaporator coil draining away. You'll notice it barely or doesn't drip when it is not hot or humid out, because there is less moisture in the air to condense.

This is just a drain. It is not pressurized or pumped or anything. There is no physical way for that to get into the exhaust. The exhaust is under positive pressure. Even if there was a hole in the exhaust directly below the condensate drain, the exhaust blowing out the hole would not allow water to drip in.

this is with the ac off. i can put the park brake on and have it in drive and load it up but will not smoke. ive let it run like that for an hour will not smoke. i can drive it around go up a steep hill will not smoke. but i cant come up with anything why it smokes when you turn on the ac. Sorry just remembered this too sorry for leaving this out earlier it does it as well when you turn on the heater.
