Driving home the temp gauge went towards the hot side but stayed at the top of normal , went back down a little then back to the top of normal, popped the hood not any smoke but the coolant overflow tank is almost full, popped the rad cap and there's all kind of sludge ish debre in it. Any ideas? Not leaking from what I can tell.

I should mention that this engine has less then 2k miles on it.

Getting it towed to the shop but I am scared of the outcome

What color is this debris, and check your oil dipstick and oil cap...is it the proper honey-brown color, not milky or anyhing?

Had the radiator been flushed prior to the new engine install, and how old is the radiator cap?

Are you saying someone installed a NEW engine but did not flush out the cooling components first?

Unfortunate overheating Causing a head gasket to blow is not covered, the engine also has a rear main seal leak. I'm over all just pissed off with the workmanship and then the customer service I got/am getting not to mention they are friends of my fathers who run this shop. And I paid out the ass to have it installed , more then the engine itself

----------

After checking it this morning It seems the thermostat went . Dosnt explain to me why it never reached full temp just stayed between the a & l on normal

----------

And I can't have any warranty work done until I figure out why my speedo dosnt work

read your own posts. they are very confusing......you start of saying it is not covered and then end with you need to fix the speedo before anything is covered under your warranty.........you need to get your thoughts clear and post a concise statement.............a few clues.......those people are not friends of your Fathers......no friend would install a new engine and leave crap in the cooling system........
........your rear main seal is leaking? someone is responsible for that?......

I am talking about the rear main that leaks , that is covered but not with a non operable odometer . If I over head the engine from a cracked radiator bad thermostat or anything like that and blow a head gasket that is not covered . Makes all the sense in the world to me bud.

Sure at this point none of you even care but i installed a new thermostat today and flushed the system , just drove it for maby ten minuets with no issues the temp gauge stayed below half way
