There's no TB options for the 01+ 4.0 SOHC Rangers yet. Supposedly there's one in development by BBK, but no clue on it's release.

And supposedly, if BBK does have one available for the 4.0 but only up to 07, the intakes and throttle body hasn't changed since '01, so if they really do have one, it'll fit your 09.

That particular 4.0 SOHC(97-00) have a different intake design than the 01+ SOHC's. That intake design is alot worse of a design in regards to flow I'm told. Though I have no hands on....it does look like a big mess of tubing everywhere compared to the straight through on 01+'s.

I have no clue if an 01+ would get the same results. I'll have to let someone who actually knows engine tuning answer this question. If anything, be a guinea pig and do what he did: buy it, try it, post results!

Here's the intake design on 97-00 SOHC's....air comes in the TB, splits in two on the sides, then enters into a lower manifold with individual runners....

x2 try it out and see if it doesnt work turn around and sell it. the best time i spent on my TB was smoothing it out and polshing it with sand paper and wow what a difference it made smoothed out the idle i can get pics to show you how nice and shinny it is

so i was wondering if anyone knew but on my 97 with the 4.0 ohv I was looking into a higher flow throttle body and that bbk place wanted $230 so my question is, Is there another vehicle with a better throttlebody that i can pick up at the junk yard and will fit in my current ones location?

cause modding a 4.0 with expensive parts seems dumb to me so a higher preformance stock one off another vehicle seems to be the only route for me

That's a 3.0 though....01+ 4.0's have a plastic TB. You've got nice options like tossing on a Escape TB.
