It's common for a man to want to see what his Ranger is capable of doing when it's safe and clear to give it hell. Having a computer that stops it from showing its true power is dumb I think.

Folks, I didn't want to start some "he's an idiot because" rant, I stand by the once in 30K miles and I'm sorry but until all vehicles have limiters it can be a little unsafe just using the highways, so I guess since I was also trying to point out that I wasn't trying to be some fly boy and that was thrown back at me as some superiority thing, I'm kind of sorry I even asked. I'll just sit there and piss someone off, hopefully it won't be anyone on this forum or someone you know. At least if it makes some of you happy you'll know there is still at least of the millions of vehicles on the road that is still governed by the manufacturer. Welcome to the land of the free.. oh by the way, take a look at the stats between speed related and novice driver related fatalities!

I never go over about 70-75 and thats while answering calls and the only times i do that is when dispatch tells us to run 10-18 traffic other than that there is no excuse for speeding speed kills period no matter if its your fault or whos speeding is dumb yeah u might think its cool but would u rather be cool or alive? Most wrecks i have been on is because of speed if the speed limit is say 75-80 and and u need to go 100+ to pass why pass its just wasting gas

What if someone is having a stroke at home and you can't wait for a ambulance and you need to get them to the hospital as fast as possible? Is that not a good reason?

Considering the ambulance wouldn't be going that fast, nor would I while responding to the incident, no.

LMAO Thats why if i have a family emergency where a family member is dying i guess I'll have to grab the minivan to get them to the hospital in time. I think the autobahn reason is legit

I can be on scene any where in my distrect in 5 min. the abulance is usualy right with me and we can treat the patient enroute to the hospital so no its not a good reason just dial 911 in stead

I definitely think this is one of the worst excuses yet.... weaving in and out of traffic, likely breaking other laws besides just speed, all while emotionally charged and probably trying to watch your passenger at the same time??

Folks, please, I drove back 350 miles home some on i94 yesterday in the snow. At one point a semi driver was tailgating and blowing his horn, because we were (other vehicles) doing about 45-50, I don't want anyone to think I want to be like that idiot, let's stop trying to justify speeding and just say that sometimes just being able to get out of the way is all it really amounts to.

Because, you brain dead moron that is exactly what happened to prompt me to ask the question in the first place. You're probably the dick that was on my right!
For the once or twice a year with my 60K miles a year that I drive that I would like Ford not to control my choice, I would like to have it available! Oh, and by the way, I have 3 kids and 35 years of driving without an accident, so don't preach to me, you juvenile *******.

Thanks for the help.
And I will never buy another vehicle that has a speed limiter less than a hundred mph, I spent half my adult life on Autobahns, where the vehicle class defines the speed limit so I often drove my motorcycles at 130+, speed is not the killer, bad or inexperienced drivers are.
What you said just about makes everyones point that is against you. The limiter is not there based on experience level. It is there for the average driver and safety of the vehicle. You may claim to have all this knowledge but I promise you didn't design the engine, tranny, and suspension on this truck so you have no clue of its true limits. AND, speed limits are put on the road for a reason. Studies are done to determine a safe speed for ALL drivers. I agree that testing should be harder to get you license and a lot of people don't deserve to drive, BUT in this country they can and do so we all have to be aware. And as a father myself, the thing that has settled me down driving lately, whether its speed or road rage, is that I don't want to be the sole survivor of some wreck that I caused killing my wife and kids. It is my job to lead them, not kill them. If you want to go over 100, get a race car and go to a track and prove how great of a driver you are. Until then, quit telling people how old you are, age doesn't make you superior, smarter, wiser, and certainly not more mature. Grow up.

And DaSlave, it is not about getting out of the way. If that is the case, pull to the shoulder and let the idiot behind you go kill himself or someone else. OR, do the responsible citizen thing and call the cops on reckless drivers. Until they are taught, they won't learn. Someone in an 18 wheeler that does all that in the snow, needs to look at himself and realize he driving to big of a vehicle for all that. I have professional truck drivers in my family so don't tell me they have a job to do. They also represent a company and should understand more of the risks and not take them.

Also, at 45-50, you speed limiter had nothing to do with you not being able to get out of his way.

Going 90+ is not "getting out of the way". It's adding yourself to the problem. Getting out of the way would be moving over and/or slowing down.
