HI!... I've gone over 125MPH in my 2007 Ranger. No issues at at. Perfectly smooth and stable. Over 154MPH in my F-150, same thing, and over 160MPH in my 83 RANGER Pro Street.

Any help will greatly appreciated.

Reckless endangerment does not make you a better firefighter. Call your EVOC instructor and ask his opinion on you doing 120mph in ANYTHING let alone a civilian vehicle. EVOC courses teach against that kind of reckless behavior to begin with. There is absolutely no reason at all for you be going 90mph to anything, let alone faster in any vehicle. Driving like that would be ground for immediate suspension and kiss the light/siren permits goodbye for good.

Pretty much what the chief said too. So I am going to learn to drive slower. Got a bad habit of going pretty fast, code or not, before I joined the fire dept.

And I suggest you take a look at how most firefighters and EMT's die each year. It isn't heroically dying in a fire. THE ROAD kills more of us every year than any other cause of death (other than heat attacks). And that attitude you portray is exactly why.

well.. on my dads old 96 4.0 4x4 the limiter was set at 107 before the computer would shut off. then it would kick back on and you could go back up to 107 before it would shut down again. i drive about 70-90 all the time.. i never feel unseasy about going that fast..

Hahah. My old '84 would start to jettison transmission fluid once you passed 67mph. 65 was fine. But beyond that, it got ugly.

Re: top speed (governor) removal ?
i have a baja race truck on 35"s, full king suspenseion yadda yadda yadda...point being that my truck CAN handle going faster than 96mph, my 2009 toyota (stock everything) has a speed limiter at 120. now i think that is rediculus, going 120 in a stock yota is sketch, but with my truck 95 feels like 20 mph in the yota. whats wrong with going fast???, especialy if its a RACE truck...it pisses me off every time i make the long, straight, smooth, drive out to the dunes that i cant keep up with honda accords filled with mexicans because the speed limiter kickes in at 95..i think i might just start smashing stuff and pulling wires till it goes faster lol (joke)

Re: top speed (governor) removal ?
Well i know my ranger will gladly do 117 but cant do much more, but i did have a state trooper escort, but i dont break 80 under normal circumstances, to much wasted fuel

Re: top speed (governor) removal ?
I have had my 97 at the time had 32's on it with 3 bl. There is a stretch of highway here on 96 that is good for getting up to speed. I was heading home from work when one of the guys wanted ro race this stretch, he had a jetta. we were neck and neck at 120 until something of his car broke/fell/tore off, all I seen was sparks like the tranny dropped!
Anyhow, I dont know if the speed was accurate as I did have the larger tires on, but that truck felt like I was riding a cloud, smoooooooth!
I also have had my '67 up to speed once in high school the kid with the neon wanted a race, I had that truck buried over 100. 352 ci strait piped, just a screaming down the road! Now that was scary!!!! Drum brakes all around, no power steering, no power brakes, felt like I was on a rockets! loud, shakey, wow!

Re: top speed (governor) removal ?
Yea my truck felt like it was floating over the road, it was fun i just cant afford to unwillingly donate that type of money to the state, but ill race back roads, only truck that races the civics and jettas out here, the poweralide while i drive, if i know the person im up against its usually a neck and neck race otherwise i make it a point to get in front and make them work for a win, and these arent the best roads, but they are the funnest

Re: top speed (governor) removal ?
I must be old because I can't think of any reason to be driving a lifted/lowered/stock Ranger any faster than 80 mph and possibly killing someone's wife/kids/family or drunk person staggering down the highway. So I guess I'd have to say to get rid of the speed control would be a totally stupid f**king thing to do. I would not want to be the one who explains to the cops that "I just wanted to go faster.....I didn't mean to kill anyone".
